Why intern at TGFSL
An internship is an opportunity for a student to secure first hand and practical work exposure under the guidance of a qualified and experienced supervisor or mentor. It also aims at active participation in the learning process through experimentation and putting into practice knowledge acquired in the classrooms.
Forensic Science Laboratory, Telangana is introducing Forensic Science Internship Scheme. This scheme seeks to engage students pursuing Undergraduate, Graduate or Post Graduate Degrees or Research Scholars enrolled in recognized Colleges or Institutions in Science, Information Technology or Engineering in India as “Interns”. Interns shall be attached to a Vertical Division or Units of works of this laboratory and would be expected to supplement the process of collection and scientific analysis of physical clue material and administrative procedures followed in the laboratory, within and outside the lab as necessary.

Internship Policy
Internship scheme as formulated by Government of Telangana vide GO Ms No. 34 Home (Services.I) Department dt. 27.10.2020, for students across Universities in India shall be followed.

FSL shall engage students pursuing Undergraduate, Graduate or Post Graduate Degrees or Research Scholars enrolled in recognized Colleges or Institutions in Science, Information Technology or Engineering in India as “Interns”. Interns shall be attached to a Vertical Division or Units of works of this laboratory and would be expected to supplement the process of collection and scientific analysis of physical clue material and administrative procedures followed in the laboratory, within and outside the lab as necessary.
Objectives
The scheme has the following stated objectives
- To allow young academic talent to be associated with the scientific works of the Forensic Science Laboratory
- The Interns shall have an opportunity to learn about the functioning of a Government Forensic Science Laboratory and it's importance in the criminal investigation system.
- The Interns shall be mentored by professionals and gain work experience for furthering their research and career prospects.
- Some key and focus areas wherein the student interns will be exposed are evidence collection, experimentation, reporting, deposition of expert evidence in the courts, findings research prospects, etc.

Indian Students from recognized Universities in India who are pursuing Graduation/Post-Graduation/Ph.D. degrees in any recognized College/Institution or completed such course from such College/Institution.

The applicant must have no criminal antecedents at the time of joining as an intern. The college may certify the same during application submission, and a police verification will be conducted to confirm this.
- Possessing minimum qualifications shall not guarantee internship at TGFSL.
The minimum duration of the Internship shall be 3 months extendable up to a maximum period of 9 months depending on the performance of the candidate, requirement of the organization and the time intern is willing to spend with the organization. Any extension shall be subject to feasibility of TGFSL and consent of the Educational Institution/University. However, the Director, TGFSL reserves the right to relax the duration terms and decision of the Director, TGFSL shall be final and binding.
Internship notifications will be placed on the website and notice board of Telangana Police and email intimation shall be sent to all relevant educational Institutions who wish to offer this facility to their students.
The Interested candidates can download the application form and submit the application with all the connected documents as mentioned at Para 6.1. The Head of Department/Principal Director, must enclose their Letter of Recommendation and “No Objection” for allowing their student to undergo Internship scheme for the period for which he or she is to be selected.

- Recommendation Letter from College / Institution / University. (Annexure B-1).
- UNDERTAKING OF COMPLIANCE.
- Notarized Undertaking (ANNEXURE-C).
- Attested Copy of ID Proof Issued by the College Institution / University. (Attestation should be done by the College / Institution/University Administration).
- Copy of Self Attested Government Issued Address Proof (Driving or Aadhar Card or Voter ID).
- Liability Waiver Form (ANNEXURE-D).
TGFSL may ask for additional copies of documents at SI No. (4) and (5) if required).
- Applications received directly from the individuals shall not be entertained and summarily rejected. All the applications shall be sent to TGFSL by the respective College/Institution/University only.
- The Selection of the candidates shall be made on the basis of the recommendations of the selection committee of FSL. If the selection committee deems it necessary to conduct an interview, then the shortlisted candidates shall be invited for the interview.
- The decision of the Director, FSL regarding the suitability of a candidate as student intern shall be final and binding.
- After selection of the candidates TGFSL will send the offer of the internship to the selected candidate and the educational institution.
- Depending upon the number of the applications received, TGFSL reserves the right to fix the intake criteria and limit the number of applicants to be called.
- Work progress and other details shall be under supervision of heads of the division/unit.
- A completion certificate regarding successful completion of internship shall be issued by FSL, along with attendance record and a copy of dissertation. Interns not completing the requisite period will not be issued any such credentials. The certificate shall be issued subject to fulfillment of all the terms and conditions, code of conduct and other conditions specified in this document.
- However, the certificate shall not be construed as experience certificate for employment opportunities in any government organisation. The issuance of Internship completion certificate does not imply any assurance of future employment with the TGFSL or any government organization.
